Quick Fix Beauty Trix

Happy Sunday and Hellooo Monday! For this week's beauty picks, Icing is sharing something a little different. In the midst of debating whether to feature a luxurious body scrub or a soothing hand cream, I thought, "why not a little bit of both?" Only instead of adding to your pricey lust list, I'm going to share a few beauty secrets with items that can be found in the comforts of your home. I've tried these and unlike my grandmother's myths i.e., using lard as an ointment for pink eye then making us stare at the moon (swear), these really work. So give your Sephora wish list a break, sit back, and enjoy!

Problem: Puffy, Swollen eyes

Fix: You may not want to say much, but if your eyes speak for themselves and you don't have to tell people at the office that you cried or that you made happy hour a six-hour affair try hemorrhoid cream. Yes, it smells bad, but the anti-swelling agents will bring your eyes down to earth again.

Problem: a dry, chapped, cracked, unkissable pout:

Fix: Whether you live in the desert (like us) or you're prisoner of a brutal Northeast winter, you've probably experienced the aches and pains of dry, chapped lips. You've probably purchased every single chap stick, lip balm, and ointment Marie Claire and Cosmo advertises.
One of the most abundantly moisturizing treatments is Petroleum Jelly. Apply some before bed and you'll wake up to more kissable lips. Fo Sho.

Problem: You need to remove the smoky eye overload, but you're fresh out of eye makeup remover.

Fix: Ahh! The wonders of the extra-virgin olive oil. It'll take it all off...from the shadow to the stubborn waterproof mascara!

Problem: Dry, working-man hands; (not that there's anything wrong with working men). But there is something a little wrong with women having construction worker hands(if they're not really in construction).

Fix: If you have been working hard (or hardly working) try this DIY exfoliant. Simply take a spoon full a butter and the equivalent amount of sugar and rub them together. Give your hands a good scrub for about a minute, wash, then moisturize. Ooooh! You'll loooooove this one!

Problem: Static-prone Locks

Fix: Go to your laundry room. Take a dryer sheet. Rub it on your hair. Ta Da!
