The holiday season is upon us and even in the current economic downfall - gift giving is in full force. Major pressure. Every year gift giving somehow becomes more and more difficult. What do you get the girl who has everything? What makes a really amazing holiday gift? Take it from me; the best gift is something you never knew you wanted. I have sifted through hundreds of collections, dozens of designers, and have somehow managed to whittle all of my favorites into a list of top ten gift ideas for the 2009 Holiday Season.
Enjoy.
- The Street Chic Accessory: Steven Shein Accessories, $32 - $68
Steven Shein’s collection of ultra mod and graphically influenced pieces are just as shocking as the slogans they so fiercely shout. Rings that feature ‘Faux Real’ and ‘Money over Bitches’ stacked high, as well as ‘Diet Coke Head’ necklaces are sure to make any holiday moment memorable. Laser cut plexiglass and wood pieces are all hand assembled in Los Angeles, CA.
- The Catwalk Soundtrack: ‘The Fame Monster’ [Super Deluxe Version], Lady GaGa, $95.99
Words cannot even describe how I feel about this album. [GaGa – Oh La La] Lady Gaga continues to fuel a fashion soaked pop revolution. Every new track on the recently rereleased album is amazing. Two discs set featuring old and new tracks, special booklet and fierceness all around. Upload it, turn it on – Walk.
- The Structured Blazer: Chiné Chain Bow Jacket, Balmain $6,705.60
Everyone, from Madonna to the late Michael Jackson, has sported a chic, structured Balmain jacket. High shoulders mean high drama – and nothing can compare to the hand beading and chain detail this jacket features. This piece is SURE to draw attention and will remain a classic piece in any wardrobe. Can we say store and re-wear?
- The Signature Scent: ‘Parisienne,’ Yves Saint Laurent, $85.00
This new fragrance from Yves Saint Laurent beautifully captures the free spirit and avant-garde attitude of an iconic fashion obsessed culture: Paris, France. A delicious mix of blackberry, damask rose and sandalwood exudes nothing but raw sexual energy. Spray away ladies.
- The ‘Look at Me’ Clutch: Heart N Soul Clutch, Judith Leiber, $2,195.00
This disgustingly chic bag is sure to catch the eye of any worthwhile fashionista. The eccentric clutch features hand finished black crystals and leather lined inside. I can’t even…
- The Cocktail Glove: Spy Gloves, Patricia Field, $42.00
Every woman should own at least 2 pairs of high end, quality gloves – winter or otherwise. They are iconic accessories that completely change any outfit. These leather “glovettes” feature strong leather construction and simple snap at the wrist. The open, finger-less design allow you to still look chic while have the ability to text, smoke, and have your fingers free to do as you please.
- The Artisan Tools: Mischief Makers Gift Sets, MAC Cosmetics, $29.50 - $32.50
As part of the highly anticipated MAC holiday gift sets, these five piece boxes feature a wide variety of top looks in Lipglass and Lustreglass lip glosses, as well as traffic stopping pigments and, my personal favorite, scene stealing glitters. Perfect for completing the ‘Fierce Holiday Party’ look.
- The Party Shoe: Mirror Mosiac Ankle Boots, Thakoon, $1,195.00
Featured in the recent underground blockbuster documentary The September Issue, Thakoon has proven himself as one of fashion’s most promising up and coming designers. With the help of Fashion Guru Anna Wintour, he continues to be a ’must have’ for the last year. As he is featured in several Vogue issues: So it is written, So it shall be done.
- The ‘WTF’ : Goat Hair Vest, Gareth Pugh, $3,600.00
For years, English designers have remained a staple in avant-garde fashion. Following closely in the footsteps of the great Alexander McQueen, Gareth Pugh has forced his vision down the fashion world’s throat. Goat hair has resurfaced as the new fur this year, popping up in the collections of several American and Italian collections. Pair with a black jersey mini dress, and a high metallic heel for a fashion forward look.
- The Big, Bad Cocktail Ring: Pearl And Tulle Pompon Ring, Lanvin, $465.60
Big. Bad. Beautiful. Lanvin is a powerhouse in the world of fashion, and the newly released jewelry collection is only a reminder of how influential their look book has become. The ring features a large pearl set inside a bed of beautiful black tulle. Remember girls, the bigger the better.
