Lobster Tales

A few weeks ago, Carl and I cooked a lobster and steak dinner. Correction...Carl and I cooked our very first live lobster dinner.

Armed with a recipe from LobsterHelp.com, a camera and big appetites, we trekked to our neighborhood market and purchased a very lively one-pound crustacean.

I wanted to give the little guy a name but Carl refused.

Upon returning home from the market, I mistakenly thought our lobster had died. Here he is springing back to life in our sink.

Boiling water, basil leaves, thyme and lots of lemon.

Carl dropping Lobsty in the pot.

Now we're cookin'

Carl's famous (practically rare) steak.

Ta-da!!
I know it may seem a bit cruel, but we had a great time cooking together and our meal was delicious. We enjoyed a starter salad, the lobster (and butter sauce), steak and a bit of fettucine pasta. Very filling...very tasty.

Jess’s 1st Shot at [real] Photography

I write for a magazine called Su Voz Latina (as my full-time job). Last month while at a photo shoot for our cover, our designer/photographer was pressed for time so I jumped in to help. I do enjoy taking photos but have never done so professionally. To my surprise, one of the photos I shot made the cover! This was such an honor! I didn't make any New Year's resolutions for 2010, but I am planning on developing my photography skills this year.

Barbie Gaga

This is bizarre and entertaining...yet why do I feel that 90% of my friends would be delighted if they received this as a gift?!

Speaking of travels…

Hi everyone, I just got back from the Caribbean. I'll admit, I'm suffering from the post-vacation blues, but ready to face the new year head on! Here are a few of my favorite moments from my trip. I hope everyone had a great holiday!

My brothers agree on a lot, except style choices. Johnny prefers boat shoes and Christian sticks to baseball caps and Havaianas.

I loved the art work on this building in downtown Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.
